Drop Dead Foundation (DDF) was the brain child of Abid Surti, the famous Painter, Cartoonist and celeberated writer of Hindi Literature.
DDF was established by Abid Surti to save water , particularly in Mumbai, which happens to be his Janm and Karmbhumi. In his childhood, Abid Surti has closely seen the extreme water scarcity in the slum areas of the metro city. With it’s deep imprint in his mind, Abid Surti decided to save every drop of water, which is wasted through thousands and thousands of leaked taps of Mumbai. With voluntary support of couple of young volunteers , Abid Surti started hiring of plumber and purchase of nuts and bolts to provide free services of repairs of leaked taps in the buildings of Mumbai. This unique step resulted in saving gallons of water till date.
Gram Sewa Samiti is grateful to legendary water warrior Abid Surti as he had exhibited full faith in Samiti, that’s why he had passed on the rich legacy of Drop Dead Foundation to Gram Sewa Samiti. Gram Sewa Samiti feels proud to carry forward the legacy of water saving Mission of Drop Dead Foundation.
